THEATRICAL TRUMPET CALLS / School in Times of Extremity
|7 December 2020

Moderator: Jacek Wakar
The pandemic has imposed new teaching principles at drama schools: no direct encounters, online lectures, classes and rehearsals... The politicians of the ruling camp ominously grunt about segregating teachers by their outlook. The school communities have no intention of ignoring the social protests and so they are threatened by some unspecified repressions. How to save (inside the school walls and online) the world of basic values in such circumstances? How to save the authorities, who are being mocked and discredited? Have masters really become useless at the present time? How to stimulate the young to undertake artistic pursuits in today's circumstances? And, finally, what next: will we manage to reconstruct the battered community? The rectors of the two most important theatre schools in Poland are going to address all these issues.
