The Grand Jury of the Divine Comedy International Theatre Festival 2013 (David Dower, Matthias Frense, Rainer Hofmann, Bia Junqueira, Shen Lin, Elisabeth Schweeger, Leman Yilmaz):

This Festival shows a range of approaches to theater that speaks directly to important problems in the daily lives in Poland. We have a deep respect for the seriousness of the approaches here and the immediacy of their impact. We appreciate the struggle for the aesthetic language and forms for accomplishing this.

The heroes of the Festival, in the eyes of the Jury, are the actors. They faced a variety of challenges and approaches and met them every time. We are impressed and grateful for the energy, generosity and quality of the performances.

BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR (5,000 PLN)

For this award we are looking at a play that seemed to explode from the gut. A difficult and ambitious production that it came down to one actor to distill and deliver three hours of work.

The award goes to Włodzimierz Dyła for the role of God  in "For God's Sake!"

BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS (5,000 PLN)

For this category we want to single out an actress who showed a great capacity to live simultaneously in the emotion and truth of the female role and to comment on it. It was an intelligent performance.

The award goes to Roma Gąsiorowska for the role of Jasmina in "The Bat".

BEST ACTOR IN THE LEADING ROLE (10,000 PLN)

For this category we want to single out a performance that was fresh, funny, scenic, and absolutely convincingly shows that behind every great woman there stands a man.

From "Catherine the Great" - Tomasz Nosinski.

BEST ACTRESS IN THE LEADING ROLE (10,000 PLN)

For this category we are delighted to acknowledge a performance of total generosity, command, grace and joy that was entirely infectious and it brought along the entire cast and audience on a remarkable journey. The performance redefines the term body politics.

From "Catherine the Great" - Marta Ścisłowicz.

BEST ENSEMBLE AWARD (10,000 PLN)

The jury has asked for and received permission to award a special prize for Best Ensemble. This could have gone to a number of productions. Time for the theater can be too long or fly by. For this award we chose to recognize an ensemble that was not only tight, versatile and virtuosic but also turned four hours of theater into a joy ride.

The award goes to "Courtney Love".

BEST MUSIC (10,000 PLN)

For the best music category, we wanted to acknowledge the ambition and risk in formulating  a new encounter between music, voice and body.

The award goes to Piotr Dziubek for his work on "I, Pierre Riviere…."

BEST SET DESIGN (10,000 PLN)

For best overall design we wanted to award the designer who stirred the soul with a complex world between artistic aspirations, industrial exploitation, bohemian excess and utopian dreams on the way to Nirvana and Love.

The award goes to Michał Korchowiec for his work on "Courtney Love".

BEST DIRECTOR (10,000 PLN)

We had a very challenging choice to make for the award for Best Director. There were several we felt very strongly deserved the award.
