Paszporty Polityki

18 January 2014

The Polityka’s Paszport award in the Theater category has been awarded to Jolanta Janiczak and Wiktor Rubin.

“Caryca Katarzyna” – a spectacle by this duo has been staged during this year’s Inferno festival.

Rubin and Janczak have been working together since 2007. Janiczak adapted scripts and dramaturgical coverage of plays directed by Rubin, including: ‘Drugie zabicie psa” by Marek Hłasko in the Polish Theatre in Bydgoszcz; “The Elementary Particles” by Michel Houllebecq in the Polish Theatre in Wrocław; “Orgia” by Pier Paolo Pasolini in the Wybrzeże Theater in Gdańsk. Rubin directed plays by Janiczak, including: “Joanna szalona; Królowa” and “Caryca Katarzyna” in the Zeromski Theatre in Kielce. The creators are interested in biographies, especially those of women who crossed the boundaries of established order and conventions. They create aesthetical and mental collages, in which that what is real blends with what is unsaid, and time and character perspectives are multiplied.
